I'm pretty excited for this round of the IN LOVE series, friends. I basically want all of Christie's picks...

Hi artsocialites! To be honest I had to do a little research for this week’s IN LOVE series to find out what was trending during this fall. I was thrilled to hear that sweaters are BACK, specifically graphic sweaters. Hi my name is Christie and I am addicted to sweaters. Warmth, comfort, no fuss... sweaters are already my fall staple and now they are “in”, Christmas came early for me kids. Okay, now that we got that little spiel outta the way let’s check out what I’m fallin’ for. [Sorry for that bad joke...]

Bold, flashy, not your granny’s duds. 1. Friends, this sweater is not for anyone that wants to blend in with the crowd. Show-stoppin’ neon, and a bold graphic make this sweater uber chic. 2. I’m obsessed with geometric triangles and this sweater feeds into that. I love the slightly longer length and can see it paired with some comfy leggings and sitting by a fireplace.

Playful, whimsy, and something you could have worn as a kid. 3. Yeah, that’s totally a polar bear sweater. Sure you could have worn this in elementary school but why leave it in your past? Wear this sweater like a balla and it’ll put a smile on your face. 4. When I look back at pictures from my youth I was always wearing the most ridiculous prints and patterns. This 80s/90s geo print pullover is nostalgic and yet totally cool.

Calling all type-lovers, designers, or people who wanna walk around like a billboard. 5. Since I surround myself with typography it makes sense to pull that into my wardrobe. I love how simplistic this sweater is. 6. I’m a lover of red. It’s as easy as that!

Sweaters for a date, or gallery opening. Fancy-that! 7. Sequins, sparkles and black. This is a statement sweata. 8. Since I’m loving the Peter Pan collar trend but not sure if I can pull it off this sweater is the perfect option. It comes with a detachable collar for the brave.

Are you a sweater lover or are you jumpin’ on another fashion trend this fall?

This week Christie of bedsidesign is sharing her favorite party thangs... and I'm sharing mine over on her blog. Check 'em out, you party animals.

The part that I really emphasize when it comes to party planning is the decor. Not really a shock right? I mean I pretty much eat, sleep, and dream interiors. Parties are all about atmosphere. I hosted 15 people at our place for Thanksgiving last year. I loved every moment of it. We recently moved and now that we are in a smaller space I’m trying to strategically plan a classy holiday dinner party. I may be a little early to the game, but the holidays are right around the corner [eep!]. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite inspiration for holiday parties and the best part is they aren’t holiday-specific, meaning you can use it for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, or New Years. Let’s get this party started!

1. I love how creative this tablescape is and the juxtaposition between earthy, organic wood finishes and the pops of color. This setup is so realistic which makes me love it even more.

2. Antlers are everywhere! If you aren’t okay with real antlers you can totally get faux ones. I love how rustic and elegant this look is. I’m imagining metallic gold antlers to really make things snazzy. But hey, that’s just me.

3. No party is complete without some tasty treats. These aren’t the typical kiddie cupcakes. Glitzy gold and looking muy delicioso I think they are stylin’. Plus the signage makes them even more sophisticated.

4. GOLD, SEQUINS, CHARGERS, MENUS = Inspiration overload. I seriously wanted to make a whole post about this, but I limited it to one.

5. I love the bountiful centerpiece and simplistic place setting. An exposed wood table makes it feel homey [and dare I say easier during clean-up!].

6. Are you sick of glitter and gold? Well I’m not and I have a ton of mason jars around my apartment. I love how simple and easy it would be to repurpose something that I already own.

7. Now after all the decor is set in place I need to look fabulous too! That’s when comes to the rescue. Their new metallic gold pom pom flower saves the day and will keep me looking festive. If only I could get my hands on this dress too.

I’m hoping to create a dinner part-tay with bits and pieces from all of this stuff that I am totally swooning over. Tip: Don’t be afraid to be yourself and mix and match different styles.

Are you planning and holiday festivities? We would love to hear or see what is inspiring you!

My l'office (loft + office) is where I go to think, create, and go on some serious pinning sprees. That space should be the most inspiring place in my home then, right? Right. Does your office need an inspiration boost? Christie of bedsidesign to the rescue...

Happy Monday! I am thrilled that this is the fourth week of the IN LOVE series. Today we are talking about something I am currently planning and working on. You see, when we moved into our apartment in June we stored everything in our second bedroom aka office and it is still in shambles. Over the weekend we started sorting through stuff and really want to pimp it today’s topic is office inspiration! Let’s get inspired.

1. Stylizimo leaves me speechless. I remember discovering this Norwegian gem of a blog and literally spending hours looking at everything. Nina totally rocks all things black + white so naturally her office matches the rest of her sweet Scandinavian style. The way she uses washi tape is to hang up inspiring pictures is great because they are easy to swap out and keep current. I’m trying to keep our office black + white with metallic accents since we use our office to create and are both easily distracted - a clean slate like this is what we need!

2. I always feel like pens, pencils, markers, and paint brushes are everywhere. Why not put them in a cute, geometric cup like this? Ah, organization makes me so happy.

3. Okay so I know I said black + white with metallic accents but these colorful jumbo paperclips are both quirky and useful.

4. Remember Stylizimo, yeah they are back. This is the other side of the desk. Goodness, gracious I love it. It took a lot of self-control to limit this collection to only two photos. Seriously check out her blog. Plus, keeping flowers or a plant in the office would make me totally smile.

5. I’m a sucker for good typography and great quotes. Take it a step further and behold, the Holstee Manifesto. This will inspire the socks off of ya. That is, if you wear socks.

6. Shelves, sigh. I love interesting “collections” displayed in a visually stimulating way. The hubs and I air on more of a minimalistic style so the balance on those shelves are perfect.

7. Shiny, gold, white, keep going - it’s a clipboard. I loveeee this.

8. Since I share my home office with my husband who does freelance photography I love pulling in eclectic accessories that mirror our passions. These vintage camera bookends from Anthropologie  are awesome - plus I love that each camera is different. That’s what makes them unique.

9. A vintage camera pencil sharpener? Oh yeah, I would sharpen pencils all day and it’s only $12! Now added to my wishlist.

Are you working on any rooms or projects? We would love to hear about what you are planning and using for inspiration!

Happy Monday, friendies! While I'm playing in New Mexico this week (psst I rode on the world's longest tram yesterday!), I've got some suh-weet guest bloggers lined up for ya. First up, Christie of bedsidesign has gotcha covered with our IN LOVE series...

Since Erin is road trippin’ this week we thought it would be fun to talk about some of the things that we love about trekking on the open road.

1. Confession, VW Beetles are my favorite. I’ve never had one but I think they would be the cutest car to take on a road trip and I just loved the suitcase racks on this vintage one.

2. My dating relationship with the hubs was via long distance. He was in Binghamton (then moved even further to Syracuse) and I was in Long Island. That’s an average 5-6 hour drive that we swapped taking almost every weekend so I’m very familiar with road trips. The one thing that I made sure I never forgot no matter what season was a good hoodie. This is actually the one I took with me!

3. I love how adventurous road trips feel and this quote pretty much sums it up. P.S. Did you notice Erin featured an elephant in her roundup as well? Crazy!

4. Whenever I go on a road trip I make sure to bring at least one new CD. What’s a road trip without music? I love how epic each CD gets when you attach it to awesome memories. If I was taking a road trip this week I’d bring the new Mumford & Sons with me.

5. I never would start a road trip without bringing along a cup of coffee. My husband and I have our own personalized Keep Cups that we pretty much take everywhere. Not only can you pick the colors of your cup but they also have the ounces marked on the inside of the cup so that baristas can properly measure your drinks! You know what that means? Discounts for bringing along your own cup and less trash that you have to accumulate in your car. That’s a win win if you ask me!

6. Slip on shoes are a must for me because when I drive long distances I like to do so barefoot. Maybe I feel more connected to the vehicle or maybe it’s just more comfortable [most likely the second option] but when I need to make a pit stop for gas or for a stretch I just want to get out and go. These are the TOMS that I have and they can double for being all fancy or convenient tp pump gas. They are also extremely comfortable.

7. True story: I usually start a road trip in a pair of sweats, hoodie and slip ons. I also start without any make up *gasp*. That’s why the last stop I take before I “arrive” I get out, and get ready! I throw on some jeans, a fancy shirt and my TOMS still look good. One time I took a trip with a friend to visit our boyfriends [now our husbands]. We stopped 10 minutes from their apartment and headed to the rest area bathroom to get ready. While I was putting my makeup on a lady tapped me and asked what I was doing. At the time I was putting on some MAC fluidline eyeliner which I admit looks a bit odd the first time you see it. Well her question turned into me giving her a 10 minute makeup tutorial from putting on eyeliner to curling your eyelashes. My friend got a kick out of it and our boyfriends laughed at us later. Moral of the story? Having a well stocked handy-dandy makeup bag can create memories.

What do you love about taking trips on the open road?

Hi, friends! Christie of bedsidesign is back for another roundup of the things she loooves, lurves, and like-likes... this time it's all about fall.

Thanks to this collaboration with Erin I am now looking forward to Mondays and spending them with you! I’m so happy to be back and sharing some of my favorite things about fall for the second part of IN LOVE. I was always a summer girl but moving to Syracuse transformed me into a autumn-loving lady. Here are some of my faves:

1. My husband is a free-lance photographer on the side and we shot a wedding together last fall. This was the bride’s bouquet - hello gorgeous flowers! We spend many a fall day taking pictures of the leaves changing, the city and all the good food we eat [more on that soon].

2. I get cold fast. I admit it is a bit weird but I’ll always be cold even when I know I shouldn’t be. Right now my fingers are a bit cold, strange circulation stuff runs in my family. That’s why fingerless gloves are just about the most amazing thing ever. I wear them to work, when I blog, when I’m in the car, you get the point. These adorable fingerless gloves are now on my wishlist. Plus check out that picture, pinecones! I love me some pinecones.

3. As someone who wears layers year-round autumn is the best time for layers [remember I’m always cold, seeing a theme here?]. I love how effortless pairing a button-down and sweater look with a pair of jeans.

4. Something you probably don’t know about me is I have an insane amount of hair. I’m cursed blessed with thick hair which usually turns into a frizzy nightmare. But fall, oh fall is the one time of year I look somewhat like a normal person. It is also one of the only times I can fit all of my hair into a cute beanie.

5. For readers 21+ years of age: I’m a beer-gal. I love me a good cocktail or glass of wine but 9 times out of 10 I opt for beer. Fall beers are my favorite because they are filled with flavor and spices that make me feel all warm and fuzzy. Dogfish Head’s Punkin Ale is perfect if I want to have just one flavorful beer, I strongly caution drinking more than 1 in a night since it is so savory. Plus nobody wants a beer belly.

6. CANDLES! Okay so we are all warm and cozy. We have a great beverage, now what? Let’s set the mood people! I just discovered a local gem called Witty Wicks. They make soy candles that are amazing and I have this pumpkin candle. Let me just tell you it smells amazing and fills my whole apartment with the scent of fall. The best part is - they sell them online.

7. Besides wanting to always be warm something triggers in me when autumn hits. I suddenly love to cook and bake. As I write this I have a pumpkin bread loaf and muffins baking in the oven. Spoon Fork Bacon is one of my favorite food blogs and their recipe for Pumpkin Mousse is on my to-make list this fall - how delicious does that look?! What’s your favorite fall recipe?

What are your favorite things about fall?

Thanks, Christie! Check out my favorite fall shtuff over on bedsidesign. See more from bedsidesign on twitter, facebook, pinterest, and instagram... and you can also get a sneak peek of our pins for the IN LOVE series right ova here.

You know those things that make you happy no matter what kind of mood you're in? Cupcakes, balloons, a boss song from your past? Well in the name of the Be Happy Linkup and collaboration month (holllaaaa), I'm teaming up with Christie of bedsidesign for a little guest posting all about the things that bring us happiness. For the next few Mondays, she'll be sharing her very favorite things here on artsocial... and I'll be sharing my picks over on bedsidesign. Check 'em out, yo. I am thrilled to start this fabulous collaboration with artsocial. To kick-start this series I would like to share the things that make me happy as way to introduce myself to you. I tried to showcase the various things that make me... well, me!

I’m a lover of minimalistic/cozy interior design. Often those two do not go hand in hand but I am all about reality and at the end of a long day I just want to feel comfort (in a stylish way!). I am currently working through classes for interior design and blog a lot about trends and styles that I love. I came across Castle, an Australian company with stellar bed linens in fun prints. I could live in this picture.

I am not a morning person. I admit, I am addicted to coffee and I love it. I am lucky enough to have a husband who loves brewing coffee in different ways. My favorite is via Chemex - plus it looks so cool when you serve it to friends.

I’m a New Yorker. I’m all about representin’ where I hail from. I grew up in Long Island and there’s nothing quite like it. I moved to Syracuse in 2010 and I’ve fallen in love with this city. I love the diversity that this state offers. My current day job is at a letterpress print shop so I am continually surrounded by beautiful typography so this doubles as 2 things. NY + typography = a happy Christie.

Nothing can move me quite like music can. I grew up playing piano, and singing. I even tried out a music program in college but realized I didn’t feel quite at home with the classical style. I love a good folk band and while playing in a band a few years ago I was introduced to the melodica and my life was changed. If you haven’t heard this instrument you must!

Who doesn’t love a good Essie nail polish? Clam bake is my favorite color because it reminds me of Long Island summers and pretty much looks great with everything!

Colorful, geometric shapes inspire me. I also love Pantone swatches and paint chips and these little Leif boxes put a smile on my face. Skipping to the shelf - I love this for the same reason. I love how simplistic it is.

I am obsessed with sea otters, like for real. These cuties are from the Vancouver Aquarium.

Mark Rothko is my favorite artist and I have this print in my home. I can’t NOT smile looking at it. It captivates me.

Since I grew up near the ocean and my father was a fisherman, anchors are very dear to me. I have an anchor tattoo and I even had a nautical/anchor themed wedding. These earrings are just darling.

I can’t wait to be back here next Monday with more of the things that I am IN LOVE with.

Thank youuu, Christie!! See more from bedsidesign on twitter, facebook, pinterest, and instagram... and you can also get a sneak peek of our pins for the IN LOVE series right ova here.

So as you learned last Thursday, I'm starting a blog happiness project (woot!) and September is collaboration month. What better way to kick off collaboration month than with a pay-it-forward-style giveaway? I can't think of a better way... unless I could somehow throw everyone a collaboration month kick-off party with champagne and cupcakes. Hmm maybe I should throw a party at some point during my happiness project... with champagne and cupcakes.

This month is about saying YES, working with amazing people, and pushing myself to reach out. So I said YES to participating in this amazing giveaway I saw on Bedsidesign... here are the details:

The first three people to comment on this post will receive a gift, a little something from me to you - who knows, it might even be champagne and cupcakes :)

The fine print:

  • Within a year (I'll do it within a month, I'm on a mission here), I’ll create something unique to share with the first three people to comment on this post.
  • But, in order to receive your present you have to play along.  Spread the love on your own blog promising to send a little special something to the first three people who comment on your post.
  • You get 72 hours to re-post, or I’ll have to move on to the next person.

Ok. So those are the rules set forth by... I'm not sure who. I followed the links back until I got the dreaded "page not found" message. SO whoever is behind this, stay rad. This is an awesome idea.

Can't wait to send you some gifts, friends!!
