boom boom pow Summer has always felt like the best time to reflect, reassess, and revamp. It's a time to work on your side projects. Work on your abs. Sleep more. Eat better. Rest. Play. In honor of summer and its permission slips, I'm spending July doing all of the above...

First, I'll be going on a little road trip to visit one of my very favorite people. Netflix and drinks and dance parties are in my future and I cannot wait. Cue this song.

After that much needed break, my plan is to come back and tackle some artsocial to-dos. You may have noticed a new url (WAHOO!). Legit, yo. I have some other site updates in the works, too, and with site updates come BIG, EXCITING announcements. Hold onto your ban.dos, friends, we're about to take things up a notch. A collaboration has begun that will change artsocial in a big way. *cartwheels* *confetti* I can't wait to tell you everything :)

Starting next month, I'll also be sharing A LOT more of my design work with ya. It's time. And if you're one of my clients, I've got a little surprise for youuu! I'm teaming up with the amazing folks at Minted to create some client thank you packets. Working with my clients is awesome but giving them presents after the work is done to celebrate? Double awesome. So excited to share all the goodies! Here's a hint. Highly recommend Minted for stationery, invites, and the like. Again, LEGIT. Everything is designed by independent artists PLUS they offer gold foil (!) and gorgeous thick paper. I'm in love with it. Okay, Minted gushing over... except they're having some 4th of July sales right now. Definitely worth checking out. Okay, done.

Happy July, friends! And Happy 4th especially. See you in August!

Keep up with my summertime adventures on instagram! Oh there will be 'grams.

EDC holiday It's official. The Eat Drink Create holiday party was amaaazing and we have the photos and video to prove it.

I want to start with a major shout out to our sponsors. Seriously, without them we would've been crafting in my living room. Thanks to Yoked, Happy Cakes, Minted, Zevia, and the awesome crew at West Elm in Cherry Creek, we partied and we partied in style. I think I speak for everyone at EDC when I say: THANK YOU!!

"These are the best cookies I've ever had in my life." I heard that several times that night. Happy Cakes knows how to make a damn good sugar cookie. And the cupcakes?! Omg I could've had 50. If you haven't been to this bakery, GO NOW. Seriously, leave work. It's that good.

Zevia is such a favorite of mine. It's rare to find a drink company you truly love and believe in, don't cha think?! Right when we started planning our holiday event I knew I wanted Zevia at the party. When they agreed to donate super adorbs bottled soda for everyone, I KNEW this was going to be our best party yet.

HUGE thank you to Zevia, not only for the bottled soda, but for letting us get creative with our holiday mocktail! The Merry Berry mocktail is made with equal parts Lemon Lime Twist Zevia, orange juice, and cranberry juice... oh and love. Get the full scoop on the Merry Berry mocktail here!

What's cooler than a holiday diy station? TWO holiday diy stations! We teamed up with the amazing and talented ladies from Whimseybox to bring our party people even more crafting fun. Thank you, Whimseybox!

Whimseybox rocked the house with their wrapping paper diy. Seriously, it was every blogger and instagrammer's dream scenario. Kraft paper, stamps, paints, ribbon, and your imagination. YES.

My incredibly talented EDC partner in crime, Lexy of the Proper Pinwheel, created possibly the cutest and easiet diy ever (that's why I love her), jingle bell stir sticks! Glue your choice of bells and other wintery accessories on a drink stirrer - it can't NOT look adorable.

It just ain't a party without a goodie bag. SO of course we had one. Well actually we had two because we're crazy like that. Crazy awesome.

How cute is that card from Sugar & Type?! She donated a variety of cuteness for our guests - this one is my fave!

My girl L of Design Stitch Go donated the cutest measuring tapes in the entire world. Fact. She's the best. Also fact.

And of course, I added some disco ball ornaments and tinsel... cuz that's just what you do.

How rad are those bags and custom labels from Pinhole Press?! Super adorable + super legit, right?? P.S. Pinhole Press lets you customize way more than just goodie bag labels... I was on their site for hours.

Goodie bag numero dos included these adorable little gable boxes from D & P Celebrations! Their store is FULL of cuteness. You've been warned.

Guess what was inside... HOT CHOCOLATE ON A STICK from Ticket Chocolate!! Even more cuteness in their store. Warned again.

Speaking of all things cute - Minted donated so many party goodies for us I about screamed when I got the package. Ok, maybe I did scream... like an excited blogger squeal. Their party supplies are definitely my go-to. Check out the cute Silver and Gold party supplies we got here!

The food, the drinks, the diys, everything looked amazing. And I think that's because we had the best location: West Elm. It's the perfect backdrop for a party AND they gave away the cutest throw and a gift card to two of our lucky guests! Many, many thanks to everyone at the Cherry Creek store (Edward, Sean, you guys are the BEST!).

Also, we could never have captured the amazingness without our rockstar photographer, Katie Hellinger, and videographer, Annabelle Mintz of Evergreen Lane Productions. Thank you, ladies! Mwah!

Speaking of, it's video time!!! Get excited.

SO much love to everyone who came and everyone who made this night possible!! I had such a blast and it's all thanks to YOU. xoxo

EDC holiday party Friends! It's time. The Eat Drink Create holiday party is next month, December 5th to be exact, and you need to be there. Lexy and I are teaming up with some incredible folks to make this party the BIGGEST and BEST yet. We're definitely taking EDC to the next level, we're straight up cray over here.

SO, the deets! You. Me. West Elm in Cherry Creek. Treats from Happy Cakes. Sips by Zevia. DIYs (that's right, plural!) you won't wanna miss. Goodie bags for the first 50 guests (with somethin' special from Sugar and Type!). A sparkly holiday photo booth. AND - drum roll - a super top secret giveaway. I told you we're cray.

Special shout out to Minted - we love those guys - and Yoked for making this party come alive. I KNOW you've heard me gush about Yoked before, right? Where bloggers and businesses meet? As a blogger, I know how much you have to hustle to connect with sponsors. Yoked makes the hustlin' and collaborating sooo much easier, like a dating service for your blog... check 'em out.

So excited for this one, friends! Will I see you there??

I know. It's September. But the sneak preview of Minted's new holiday cards has me SO excited about the holidays! Every year I tell myself I'm going to send out holiday cards. Then suddenly it's December 24th and I haven't licked a single stamp. Oh not this year, friends. It's time. We live in a house in the suburbs. We just bought a lawn mower. I'm like a real adult over here. I'm sendin' out those cards!

Now for the hard part: which ones should I send out? Help me pick! I've narrowed them down to 5 categories...

Summer EDC was a major good time, y'all. And we didn't get rained out - HOORAY! We would've had this party rain or shine. Even if it was hailing! Okay, maybe not if it was hailing, but we didn't have to make that decision. The weather ended up being perfect.

Big hugs to my partner in crime, Lexy of The Proper Pinwheel. She's amazing and talented and her creativity is what makes these parties so awesome. High five, girrrl.

We had the BEST PIE OF MY LIFE from The Humble Pie Store: strawberry-rhubarb, apple cheddar, and cherry. Seriously. People of Denver, go immediately.

The details of each event are my absolute favorite part. We had individually-sized pie boxes with wooden forks and baker's twine (for maximum cuteness) and mini bags of cherries. Thank you to Erin, Katie, and Annabelle (and her husband Cory!) for helping us set up the pie and cherries! You're all hired, k?

I mean, it's not a picnic without lemonade... and strawberry lemonade... and cute cups & straws. It's just not. Our EDC-branded water was obviously invited back for round deux, and they made really great blanket weights. It got a little windy at times... but I was still able to rock my striped jersey dress. I know. Dress in the wind. I live right on the edge.

For the create portion of the evening, we partnered with the crazy awesome folks at Fancy Tiger Crafts & October Ink to give everyone mini embroidery projects. The cherry design and faux wood embroidery hoops could not have been more perfect for our picnic theme. Lots of love to these local creatives!

Speaking of local, we also teamed up with Common Threads to make this par-tay possible. Big thank you to these wonderful ladies for sponsoring our event and helping us celebrate the creative Denver community. If you're in Denver (or Boulder), check 'em out, yo. Their stores are FULL of cute clothes and accessories, plus they offer creative classes like sewing & knitting!

Whimseybox - who just made the move out to Colorado, woot! - also donated 3 boxes of goodies for us to raffle off. I really really wanted to enter this raffle, guys. I'm so jealous of our winners. Congrats, you lucky ladies!

Minted! Oh friends, Minted party decor is no joke. They donated the PERFECT party decor for our picnic. Exhibit A: an EDC bunting banner. That banner is going to live at my house forever and always. I love it.

Oh-hoo-hoo! Now for the video. Annabelle of Evergreen Lane Productions is seriously one of the most talented ladies I know. She captures the mood & details of our events SO perfectly.

HUGE thank you to everyone who came out! We had a blast. Thanks again to everyone listed here. We couldn’t have done this without these amazing folks. Srsly, say hi, follow them on twitter, send them love.

by Kate Donaldson We're doing things a little differently on today's Art Crush! This time I had the opportunity to actually take some photos with my art crush. The print? Here? I was so excited... and when I told Kate Donaldson, favorite friend and talented photographer, about the whole idea? Well. The creativity and awesomeness went up a few hundred notches.

by Kate Donaldson by Kate Donaldson

The artist: Kayla King. The art crush: Two Villages and the Little Bear.

I absolutely love this print. The graphic patterning, the simple use of color, the fun title that turns it into a story. It's so thoughtfully designed. Plus there's something so mysterious about it. It completely sucks me in. I feel like, maybe if I look at it long enough, I'll find a hidden clue and decipher its meaning.

by Kate Donaldson

Kate had the idea to do a series of multiple exposure shots. Totally captures that same thoughtful yet mysterious vibe, don't you think?

Taking photos with my art crush was such a blast. I'm so excited to add this print to my collection! I've gotta say, it was really hard to pick only one print. How awesome are these others?

Kayla King is a graphic designer and illustrator based on the Central Coast of California. She loves pens, bright colors, design magazines, growing tomatoes, and snuggling with her two dachshunds. Inspired by nature, her color palettes and illustrations often incorporate elements of the mountains and beach near her home.

See more prints (and party decor!) from Kayla on Minted, a community of thousands of designers from around the world. I totally have a crush on Minted, too, by the way.

I'm turning into one of those people. You know. Someone who gives artwork for every gift-giving occasion. It's not like I'm making portraits out of macaroni or anything. There are some seriously awesome gifts out there that support the art + design world. Practical gifts. Unique gifts. Gifts you actually want to give (and they'll want to receive). One of my favorite sites for artwork and creative, well-designed goodies is Minted. With Father's Day coming up and a whole crew of friends graduating next month, I've been perusing Minted for the perfect present... and trying really hard not to shop for myself.

Help me decide! Which one is your favorite?

The Art Drank // 3

Is it hot in here or is it just me? Nope, it's hot in here. Colorado in the summer is sure hot and dry. 80s and 90s all week and zero precipitation can only mean one thing: it's time for frozen lemonades... and it's always time to buy cute art prints for my dining nook.

Frozen Mint Lemonade Goodness

1/2 cup fresh lemon juice 1/2 cup sugar 1/3 cup packed fresh mint leaves 2 cups water About 3 cups ice cubes, cracked if large Garnish: 4 fresh mint sprigs

Blend lemon juice, sugar, and mint leaves in a blender until leaves are finely chopped and sugar is dissolved. Add water and enough ice cubes to fill blender, then blend until smooth. Serve immediately and ENJOY.
