I'm turning into one of those people. You know. Someone who gives artwork for every gift-giving occasion. It's not like I'm making portraits out of macaroni or anything. There are some seriously awesome gifts out there that support the art + design world. Practical gifts. Unique gifts. Gifts you actually want to give (and they'll want to receive). One of my favorite sites for artwork and creative, well-designed goodies is Minted. With Father's Day coming up and a whole crew of friends graduating next month, I've been perusing Minted for the perfect present... and trying really hard not to shop for myself.

Help me decide! Which one is your favorite?

So as you learned last Thursday, I'm starting a blog happiness project (woot!) and September is collaboration month. What better way to kick off collaboration month than with a pay-it-forward-style giveaway? I can't think of a better way... unless I could somehow throw everyone a collaboration month kick-off party with champagne and cupcakes. Hmm maybe I should throw a party at some point during my happiness project... with champagne and cupcakes.

This month is about saying YES, working with amazing people, and pushing myself to reach out. So I said YES to participating in this amazing giveaway I saw on Bedsidesign... here are the details:

The first three people to comment on this post will receive a gift, a little something from me to you - who knows, it might even be champagne and cupcakes :)

The fine print:

  • Within a year (I'll do it within a month, I'm on a mission here), I’ll create something unique to share with the first three people to comment on this post.
  • But, in order to receive your present you have to play along.  Spread the love on your own blog promising to send a little special something to the first three people who comment on your post.
  • You get 72 hours to re-post, or I’ll have to move on to the next person.

Ok. So those are the rules set forth by... I'm not sure who. I followed the links back until I got the dreaded "page not found" message. SO whoever is behind this, stay rad. This is an awesome idea.

Can't wait to send you some gifts, friends!!

Real men:

- Watch Friends even though they hate it (and think it's Theebe instead of Phoebe)

- Eat tofu veggie stir fry when they'd rather have steak

- Read

- Bake cookies and wear floral aprons over their Bad Religion t-shirts

- Go their own way without caring, or even looking to see if anyone is following them

The holidays can be tough. Lots of friends and family asking about your love life, your career ambitions, your future children... gaahhh! When you need a quiet moment of motivation this holiday season, look to the penguin. Be cool. Be yourself. And no matter what situation you're in, don't forget to WORK IT.

Ok, I'm a cat person. But I am NOT a cat lady. Big difference. Now that we've settled that, I must say I LOVE this calendar (and if anyone wants to buy it for me, I'd totally be ok with that). I think my cat Meowmers would like it too... and while we're on the topic, have you seen this video?

Holidazzled by... Pack Rack Tails

Day 11 of the art-vent gives us multipurpose animal tails. If you (a) like animals (b) have an animal safari theme goin' on in your house or (c) own keys or necklaces in desperate need of organization, this gem is for you.

Today's art-vent calendar pick comes from one of my favorite sites ever, Tattly!

Tattly creates designy temporary tattoos for everyone - the animal lover, the designer, the contemporary artiste. Pretty much anyone who wants an extra dose of awesome needs to check out this site.

Holidazzled by... A Cat Made of Airport

For today's art-vent calendar pick, cat and art lovers unite! "Roger that," says this cat. If this kitty does indeed work at the airport, I feel like he totally has everything under control. There's confidence in his eyes. And I bet he's friends with this guy.

Have you ever wanted a bicycle that was also a horse? Well then this is for you, you lucky devil. Meet Horsey. He likes carrot sticks and long bike rides. But he hates snakes, I mean HATES 'em.

If I had Horsey, I'd ride around popping wheelies and making neighing sounds... oh you would too, don't lie!
