WE BE MOVIN

hangers via designlovefest Moving day is almost upon us! I'll keep this short, as I've only packed 3 boxes and we move in 2 days...

August has been a wild ride, y'all. I'm so grateful for this community. All of you have kept me sane, offered me much-needed encouragement, and kept me focused on what really matters - the happiness! Oh and a home filled with lots of natural light. Damn straight.

You're all amazing. I can't wait to catch up on your comments and posts when I get settled in my new office! Woot woot! Margaritas for everyone.

I'm hoping September is calm and boring... yes, I welcome more boring.

P.S. how great are these spray-painted hangers from designlovefest? That Bri is so dang creative. Love that girl.

AMAZING THINGS ARE HAPPENING

believe that Being interviewed on All Things Beautiful last week made me realize how far the Be Happy linkup has come. Next month marks the one year anniversary! Wowza. That's 52 posts about happiness on my blog alone! With all of the wonderful bloggers who've joined in, that's like hundreds of happiness posts put out into the universe. High five, ladies. I think a major celebration is in order, yes?

My blog happiness project has taken me on quite the journey. My hope for this project was to learn all I could, grow artsocial into a professional blog, and by the end have a solid idea of where I'd like to go next. I've always wanted to expand artsocial into something more, something bigger...

Guys. I think I've found my next step. Eep!

I'm oh so excited to announce I'll soon be offering some veeerrry special graphic design services. As many of you know, I've been working with the always amazing Tiffany Han as her blog manager, creating her blog graphics, program banners, and working on other awesome projects (like glitter photo shoots!). Very very soon I'll be offering such services to YOU. Woot woot!

I'm so thrilled to start helping more creative entrepreneurs with their blogs. Designing / curating posts is the part of blogging I've fallen in love with... so that's what I'm focusing on. After all, that's the secret to happiness, right? Do more of what you love and less of what you don't love... could it really be that simple?? YES. Believe that.

I can't wait to share more about my new services! More details coming soon. Like real soon.

SURPRISE! YOU'RE MOVING.

elle I love surprises. Like parties or unexpected extra money in your account or finding the M&M that actually has 2 peanuts! Oh yeah. Those surprises are the best. But surprises about moving? No. I do NOT like those surprises... I think I'm finally accepting the fact that we have to move in 30 days. Ahhhhh.

Since we got the news, I've been thinking a lot about surprises and things that happen seemingly "out of the blue." When stuff like this happens I tend to think something is going wrong. I'm filled with anxiety and dread and all kinds of nervous emotions. Yuck.

BUT then I started thinking about other times in my life when things have happened out of the blue. Sure, they seemed negative at first but in the end, everything actually worked out for the best. Examples:

Exhibit A) Not getting the single room I applied for my freshman year of college. Instead I was assigned to a triple, that's THREE people in one room. Crazytown, but it led to meeting some of the best, most wonderful ladies in all the land. Those girls got me through a really rough first year of college.

Exhibit B) Dating a total loser in 2009 led to a surprising and delightful reconnection with Kevin, my current + most wonderful boyfriend. High five, random facebook message. Yep. Facebook. Ain't no shame in that game.

Exhibit C) My job suddenly ending in 2011 led to the beginning of artsocial. Umm hollaaaa! Nuff said.

So could it be that surprise moving is actually a good thing? It's all about perspective, eh? Sure, moving is never easy... but maybe this surprise move will take me somewhere I'll love even more than our current place. Maybe something even more incredible and awesome is waiting for us. If I knew that was the situation, I sure wouldn't be scared or mad at my surprise... I'd be excited. So I'm getting excited, y'all.

But feel free to still send us good-luck-house-hunting thoughts!! :)
