It's that time of year, friends. Sweater season. I love a good cardigan - and I usually always have one with me (I carry a big bag). Anyhoo, Colorado in October usually means it's cold enough to wear sweaters and sip hot chocolate, but still warm enough to get away with wearing flats. This glorious grace period doesn't last long... I'll be starting some serious winter boot shopping soon. Any recommendations for me? Since I'm not a big coffee fan (I know, it's cray), I love a good hot chocolate... if you follow me on the 'gram, you've noticed my new-found love of Starbucks' salted caramel hot chocolates. I knew, with the help of the internets, I could find a good copycat recipe online... thanks, Savory Sweet Life!

Please note, I made a few adjustments to the recipe - I decided to be "healthy" and forgo the whipped cream. I also thought it would be cute/delicious to add chocolate shavings to the rim of the mug... well it is, until you pour in an extremely hot beverage. Then the shavings melt. Smart, Erin. Smart.

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate


3 tablespoons caramel syrup, heated to luke warm (recipe here) Hot chocolate (4 tablespoons of ganache plus 6 oz. of milk, heated) Pinch of medium coarse sea salt Whipped cream (optional)


Pour 2 tablespoons of caramel syrup into a mug so the inside of the mug is coated well. Add hot chocolate and stir everything. Top off with with cream, drizzle with remaining caramel, and sprinkle with sea salt (I sprinkled chocolate shavings).
